Version 0.0.2.0 - Starvation, Freezing, New Skills and Improved lighting!

Main focuses

The three main focuses of this update have been:

1. Progression - new skills and stats which enable you to better progress your characters and specialize them in certain tasks and jobs.

2. To improve the lighting possibilities going forward. One smaller showcase being the new terrain.

3. To make needs feel more impactful. Characters now starve if not fed as well as begin to freeze if out too long in the cold. Both of these conditions will impact their working productivity and starvation could ultimately lead to death if not handled correctly.

Progression

  • Each workstation now has a corresponding skill associated with it. The more time a character dedicates to a specific task the more proficient they become and level up the corresponding skill. Skills give a huge flat boost applied after all your other equipment and stats so be sure to focus on them!
  • Each workstation is now governed by one character stat. Since stats govern multiple tasks it makes certain jobs easier to switch between. This is a huge help. If, for example, your cook for some reason dies you are now able to more easily find a replacement since another character working another job may have a high level in the same stat.
  • Mission rewards now have more interesting choices, demanding you to make touch decisions about what resources you need to prioritize. Will you focus on food at the expense of your iron supply? Will you let someone starve in order to ensure you have weapons for your coming missions? The choice can be a hard one.

Lighting & Structures

  • Houses now have walls which block the sun, leading to darker, shadowy indoors. The perfect place for a nice fire.
  • New terrain which better responds to lighting, enabling new features going forward as well.
  • The Fort wall is now better looking and more detailed than before.
  • Characters and objects now correctly receive shadows when carrying objects and when indoors. The latter makes houses seem much more cozy and welcoming.

Needs

  • Hunger now has impactful consequences when not satisfied. Every day the characters' hunger need resets to zero and they grow hungry. The less you feed a character the less Fit they become. A low Fitness leads to starvation, and if not adressed, death.  A high Fitness gives a positive boost for your characters but requires them to be well fed for several days in a row to keep it going. Can you afford keeping one character fit at the expense of another character starving? It's your choice to make.
  • Temperature is a new need requiring characters to warm themselves up during the workday if their work is primarily outside. If they work solely transporting resources between work areas the cold will surely get to them. Make sure to adjust for it in your custom made job plan for such characters.
